ELECT (European Learning Communities for Training of People with Mental Illness)

Chris, Liz, Peter and I headed off for Copenhagen for the final meeting of the Elect project which has been meeting for the last two years to look at methods for Supported Education within Clubhouse.

We were welcomed by the City Mayor of Social Affairs and Ville Gronberg Project Manager. Following on from this a presentation of the three package outcomes were delivered on Methods for Supported Education, Activation and Motivation and Trainer for Trainers. The final products in manual form were handed out to the Elect participants.

All of the work of the Elect Project can be accessed HERE.

The Scottish Coalition presented a power point on the Action Plan which was constructed whilst on the Elect Project in London of March of this year named Training for Trainers a Facilitators Guide. This is designed to be used by Clubhouse member`s and staff to deliver Supported Education Training to other Clubhouses.

The Activation and Motivation group looked at what does a Clubhouse already offer, they carried out a consultation of 7 European Clubhouses on needs and goals, sent out questionaire on best practice and also looked at E learning within  a Clubhouse setting. Finally the Manual for Study Support was covered a broad issue looking at `What is a Clubhouse`, Support, Tutoring individually or in Groups and a Study Support as an individual unit within a Clubhouse.

Anders Jacobsen a Consultant at the Volunteer Centre of Denmark gave a presentation on the role and contributions of Volunteers which was a thought provoking presentation with many questions from the group and volunteers within a Clubhouse.

"A big thank you from Caledonia Clubhouse and the Scottish Coalition for all of the organization and hospitality we received whilst involved in this innovative project".
